Before you decide to schedule an appointment...
  Make sure that you first follow these common troubleshooting steps:
 
Reboot your computer. Some problems are temporary and will be solved by simply restarting.
Check the connections. If your problem is related to a connection to the internet, a printer, scanner, monitor, or some other device, check and make sure everything is plugged in properly. Try unplugging the device in question and then plugging it back in.

Before you call us...
 
Make sure you document your problem carefully. Some problems occur only once every couple hours or even less frequently. Often it can be nearly impossible for us to solve a problem if we can't see it in action, and if we have to wait hours before we're able to witness it, our job becomes extremely difficult. The best thing to do in a situation like this is to keep track of exactly what times it happens, what you were doing when it happened, exactly what error message you got or what behavior you noticed, and any other information that might be pertinent.

Also let us know what you might have changed or installed recently, even if you think it's unimportant. It just might have something to do with your problem.

When you call us...
 
If possible, be near your computer. Some problems are simple enough that they can be solved over the phone. We may ask you to try various troubleshooting steps that you can only perform if you're at your computer.
